Something I believe personal web users never bring up is that the peripheral web is oversaturated with digital artists and tech aficionados (mostly programmers and Linux enthusiasts.) Although I'm happy that we've been able to carve out our corners of the web, I do think the web would benefit heavily from more diversity in the interests of webmasters / webmistresses.
We're sorely lacking in those passionate in other fields. For the most part, these people are stuck within the hellscape of social media, or simply never share their interests online whatsoever. Imagine how much more lively and appealing the personal web could be with people of all these different skillsets sharing their passions and knowledge on both forums and personal websites!
